Inter are closer than ever to securing Cardiff City defender Gary Medel following today’s meeting.

The Nerazzurri have made no secret of their interest in the Chile international, who is fresh from World Cup duty.

According to Sky Sport Italia, there was a meeting today between Inter and Cardiff directors that whittled down the difference to just €1m (£800,000).

According to Sky Sport Italia, there was a meeting today between Inter and Cardiff directors that whittled down the difference to just €1m (£800,000).

Cardiff are requesting €8.5m (£6.7m) for Medel, while Inter’s proposal is now at €7.5m (£5.9m).

It is believed he would arrive on a permanent basis, but with the cost of the transfer fee spread out over three instalments.

Some performance-related add-ons would help bump up the price to Cardiff’s demands.

The matter could be resolved within hours.
