Inter are expected to make a decision on their new Coach on Sunday, as it’s between Marcelino and Gianfranco Zola.

According to the latest reports, the Chinese owners were not too impressed by ex-Lazio boss Stefano Pioli, as they do not consider him a strong enough name to lead the side.

There was a meeting with Marcelino last night at dinner, then another today, but the morning saw a surprise encounter with Zola.

Although Zola’s management experience is minimal, he is famous in China from his time at Chelsea in the Premier League.

“Suning are seeking a Coach with an international profile and the Italian ‘soul’ of the club want an Italian,” explained Sky Sport Italia reporter Massimo Marianella.

“Therefore, Zola would tick both boxes. I spoke to him by phone this afternoon and he said the Chinese side of Inter is pushing for him.

“In his previous experiences, he was well-loved by the players and tried to show some good football. He’d also act as a glue keeping everyone together in such a difficult moment.”

The latest reports continue to suggest Marcelino is the favourite due to his time at Villarreal, but he has never worked outside of Spain.

It’s believed the Suning Group representatives will fly back to Nanjing on Sunday evening, so the new Coach will have to be decided within the next 24 hours.

Rai Sport suggest Marcelino will remain in Milan tomorrow, but won’t be at San Siro for the game with Crotone.

In Spain, SuperDeporte are confident Marcelino will be appointed tonight.
