“There are no sides of the calibre of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in the Italian league,” Juan Jesus explained, addressing the assembled media after the final whistle.

“We need to be more alert and realise that we can go toe-to-toe with anyone. Now we head back to Italy to prepare for the start of Serie A as best we can.

“We need to improve so we can challenge Juventus.”
