Romelu Lukaku is pushing to be fit for Belgium’s final World Cup group game against Croatia, leaving Inter anxious ahead of the second half of the season.

The 29-year-old Belgian striker returned to the Nerazzurri in the summer on loan from Chelsea and initially started well, scoring a goal and providing an assist in his first two games back. After his third game, Lukaku was sidelined with a hamstring injury, an issue he’s still not shaken off despite joining the Belgium squad at the World Cup.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Lukaku is pushing to be fit for Belgium’s final group game against Croatia on December 1, leaving a concerned Inter to watch the situation closely. The club are worried that he could rush his recovery for the tournament, possibly affecting him in the second half of the season.

Inter’s hopes of climbing up the league table after the international break partly rely on the 29-year-old and they were hoping to have him fully fit for their first game of the new year against Napoli on January 4.
