Today’s round of World Cup games sees multiple Serie A players in action as England take on Iran, Senegal face Netherlands and the US battle it out with Wales.

The day starts with England vs Iran at 13.00 before Senegal vs Netherlands at 16:00 and USA vs Wales at 19.00 UK times.

Gareth Southgate’s decision not to call up Milan defender Fikayo Tomori and Roma striker Tammy Abraham means no Serie A representatives will take part for England this tournament. Iran also has no players from the Italian league in their squad.

Milan’s Fode Ballo-Toure and Salernitana’s Boulaye Dia will face the Netherlands this afternoon, being both players’ first World Cup game.

The Netherlands squad contains Inter duo Stefan de Vrij and Denzel Dumfries as well as Atalanta’s Teun Koopmeiners, and all three will be hoping to get on the pitch against Senegal. A win in this game could be crucial in deciding which teams escape Group A, which also contains Qatar and Ecuador.

Hopes are high for the USMNT heading into the World Cup and two Serie A players have joined up with the squad, Juventus’ Weston McKennie and Milan’s Sergino Dest. They’ll both be hoping to be the difference makers against Wales.

The Welsh squad contains just one player plying his trade in Serie A, Spezia’s Ethan Ampadu. At 22, he is already an experienced international with 37 caps, having appeared in three of their four games at Euro 2020.
