The local ASL (local health authority) ordered the squad to suspend all activities until midnight on Sunday as four players and a team member tested positive for COVID. Their home game against Sassuolo, which should have been played yesterday, was postponed.

Foreign players have also been banned from joining their national teams for the upcoming international break.

However, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, they could be allowed to leave Italy tomorrow if there won’t be new COVID cases.

The team will undergo new swab tests tomorrow. If all of them come back negative (except for Samir Handanovic, Danilo D’Ambrosio, Stefan de Vrij and Matias Vecino), Inter will be able to resume training.

However, the local ASL could also give the green light for foreign players to join their national teams, provided they remain in self-isolation and only leave their rooms to train with the rest of the group.

The report states several national teams are putting pressures on the local health authority to approve their players’ trips abroad, making Inter irritated.

The team group should self-isolate for 14 days, and Antonio Conte and the club’s directors think the players should remain in Milan for such period, without being allowed to leave the city.

Inter are also annoyed with Andrea Pirlo, who said yesterday Inter were “fortunate”, as they cankeep hold of their players rather than send them on international duty.

Inter consider it was bad for them not to play against Sassuolo yesterday and are not even sure they will keep hold of their players.
