Sport Mediaset reports Inter are the only club to have taken ‘concrete steps’ to sign Papu Gomez offering Matias Vecino in a swap deal although La Dea’s President Antonio Percassi will try to convince the Argentinean to stay at the club.

Gomez has been excluded from Atalanta’s last two Serie A games against Roma and Bologna following a dressing room bust-up with La Dea’s coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

According to several reports in Italy, Gomez is expected to leave the Gewiss Stadium in the January transfer window with Inter and Milan interested.

The Nerazzurri’s director of sport Piero Ausilio has claimed Gomez is a player “every club would want to have” but insisted he is not going to put his nose "in somebody else’s business."

According to SportMediaset, however, Inter are the only club to have taken concrete steps to sign the 32-year-old.

Atalanta have already informed Gomez’s agent that the club won’t let the player leave for free in the January transfer window and that a €10m price-tag has been set. Inter have reportedly offered Matias Vecino in a swap deal to sign the Argentinean.

According to the report, Atalanta President Antonio Percassi still hopes to convince Gomez to stay at the club at least until June and is going to talk to the player and Gasperini in the coming days.
