Insigne was among Napoli’s goalscorers as the Partenopei moved four points clear at the top of Serie A, but the forward made it clear his side could not get too comfortable, with Juventus breathing down their necks, while affirming his desire for Reina to sign a new contract.

“We had a good game, it’s an important result,” he told Premium Sport after the match.

“We’re top, but it’s in our hands. We must win all our remaining games. Juve won’t give up, but we’ve shown that we have great character and a big heart.

“We’re not putting pressure on anyone, we’re playing each game as if it were a Final. We hope to be rewarded at the end of the season.

“I always try to repay the faith of my Coach, even without scoring. I hadn’t scored much, so I asked Jorginho to leave the penalty to me, and I thank him for doing that.

“Mertens’ substitution? Everyone wants to play until the final whistle. It irritates you a bit when you’re taken off, but after the game, everything stops.

“Reina? I hope everyone here stays, but it’s not up to me to decide these things. Still, I’m convinced Pepe has always wanted to stay here as long as possible. We’ll see.”
