Lorenzo Insigne warns Napoli “have to keep our feet on the ground” despite their position at the top of Serie A.

The Partenopei are unbeaten since the first game of the season, and beat Inter on Monday night to move to the head of the table.

Their form has fans dreaming of a first League title since 1990, but the local boy is calling for focus.

“We hope to finish as high as possible,” Insigne told reporters in a Press conference to promote the club’s winter retreat in Val di Sole.

“We’re first, but it’s early to talk about the Scudetto, there are a lot of games to go, and we’re only thinking about working well.

“I’ve been first in Serie B and C, but in Serie A with my own team it’s different. Now we have to keep our feet on the ground and stay there as long as possible.

“If we think about being first and not about the games then it’ll count against us and we’ll start sliding down.

“On Sunday we have a big game with Bologna, they can cause us problems but we’ll go there and play fearlessly, with great calm and humility, regardless of the opponent.

“It won’t be an easy game, it never is with Bologna, so we’ll have to go there with the right humility.

“Not many of us have won big things at club level, now we’re top of the League and we have even more hunger to reach important objectives.”

Insigne was also asked whether his partnership with Gonzalo Higuain represents the best strikeforce in the League.

“Higuain is – and it’s not just me saying this – the best striker in the world.

“The best partnership? It’s not for me to say, we do our best for the club and the fans who deserve so much.

“It doesn’t matter who scores, even if [goalkeeper Pepe] Reina scores the important thing is to win.”
