Napoli’s Lorenzo Insigne has “always been eager” to work with Carlo Ancelotti, and has already spoken to the new Coach on the phone.
The former Milan, Juventus and Real Madrid boss has replaced Maurizio Sarri at the San Paolo, with the appointment officially confirmed last week.
“I heard the news through the TV and the newspapers,” Insigne told Corriere dello Sport.

“I heard the news through the TV and the newspapers,” Insigne told Corriere dello Sport.
“I’m happy with the arrival of Ancelotti who is a great Coach who has won a lot. Seeing him at Napoli is incredible, but at the same time we have to give credit to Sarri for the three years he did.
“He did extraordinary things and Napoli grew a lot with him, if any of we players have offers from other clubs then the credit is his.
“Now another cycle opens with a new Coach, to whom I wish good luck in also imposing himself on Napoli.
“We expected Sarri to stay, but the President [Aurelio De Laurentiis] made his choice. I’m glad Ancelotti has come in, because I’ve always been eager to work with him.
“He’s already worked at big clubs with great champions, so I can only learn from him.
“He will teach us a lot and will help us, but it is up to we players on the pitch, with our qualities, to get the results.
“Ancelotti will give us more incentive to do that, because he’s a winner and he’s proved it throughout his career.”
Marek Hamsik could leave for China, but Carletto is trying to convince the captain to stay.
“I know Ancelotti called him, but I don’t know what they said. Marek’s farewell would be bad news for everyone involved with Napoli, because he’s been a Neapolitan for 10 years.
“He [Ancelotti] also called me and my other teammates. It was just a way to say hi and I appreciated it.
“He told me to stay calm because we can do great things if we start with the right mentality.”
Sarri, meanwhile, is expected to move on to Chelsea.
“If he sits on the Chelsea bench I’ll be happy because he did well with Napoli and our football was appreciated by everyone,” Insigne said.
“I wish him all the luck in the world and I hope he takes his mentality there too.
“Could he take Kalidou Koulibaly with him? If anyone changes scenery I won’t be disappointed.
“It’s not just Chelsea who want Koulibaly, but I hope he stays because we’re a tight-knit group in the dressing room.
“If someone does leave though, I’m sure Ancelotti knows a lot of good players and that the club will replace those who leave.”
