Ciro Immobile assures the 3-0 victory over Roma means more to Lazio than mere local pride, as “it’s also for our position and our self-confidence.”

Felipe Caicedo opened the scoring after 12 minutes, then Immobile converted a penalty for Federico Fazio’s foul on Joaquin Correa until a late Danilo Cataldi strike.

“It’s not just an important game because it’s the Derby, but also for our position in the table and our self-confidence,” Immobile told DAZN.

“The lads did such great work and we remained concentrated.”

Immobile was not in the starting XI due to a muscular issue, but still came off the bench for the final 30 minutes and converted a penalty.

“I had some fitness problems, but I didn’t want to stop. At times you need to rest in order to recover properly, as playing when you are not 100 per cent is not helpful.

“I dedicate the goal to my wife, who is pregnant. We’re expecting our third child and, after two girls, it’s going to be a boy.”
