The 26-year-old once again found the net in the Biancocelesti's 2-1 victory over Empoli yesterday, meaning he now has 13 Serie A strikes this campaign.

"Work pays off and it is seen by those who understand that," Immobile explained to Rai Sport.

"It is an important win, I am happy with my 13 goals. It doesn't seem like much because those in front [in the Capocanniere race] are going strong, but they are important because they have helped the team.

"I am happy for the team, which has worked a lot and worked well."

Talk then turned to the upcoming Coppa Italia semi-finals with arch rivals Roma, but the Italy international was keen to point out Lazio have a League match with Udinese first.

"They have a great importance, now we will think about Udinese. It isn't nice to lose points and we want to get back to winning ways at home. Then we will think about the derby.

"I know that for the fans it is important and it would be nice to give them joy."
