Ciro Immobile called on Italy to improve their mentality in the Nations League trip to Portugal tomorrow. “A lot of it is in the mind.”

It kicks off on Monday at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT) in Lisbon and is the second Azzurri match of the Nations League after Friday’s 1-1 draw with Poland.

“In the second half, we pegged Poland back and they never really got at us,” said the Lazio striker in a Press conference.

“I think Robert Lewandowski is the best centre-forward out there, but he only had one shot on target. We made some mistakes in defence and I am sure we can do more when attacking.”

Immobile and Andrea Belotti are duelling for a spot in the trident attack rather than injured Mario Balotelli.

“The Coach decides who plays and what our roles are. Once we are out there, it’s not about systems so much as the determination to do well. A lot of it is all in the mind.”

Portugal are missing Cristiano Ronaldo, who remained in Turin to focus on training with his new club Juventus.

“We are still facing a very strong national team.”
