Lazio striker Ciro Immobile could be back in action for the first Serie A game of 2022 against Empoli after testing negative for COVID-19.
The Italy international had tested positive a week ago, missing the matches against Genoa and Venezia are coming down with the virus.
According to the latest reports, Immobile tested negative today and has been given the all-clear to undergo his medical tests with the Lega Serie A.
This is a necessary step for any player who has recovered from COVID-19 before he is allowed to resume training.
If all goes well, then Immobile will be back at the disposal of coach Maurizio Sarri and able to play when Lazio’s Serie A campaign resumes against Empoli on January 6.
So far this season, the centre-forward has scored 16 goals and provided two assists in 21 competitive appearances between Serie A and the Europa League.
