Spanish newspaper Sport claims agent Mino Raiola agreed a discount to €75m should Matthijs de Ligt leave Juventus for Barcelona, whereas the clause is €120m for any other club.

It comes after Raiola told Dutch media that both he and the defender believed it was time he took a ‘new step’ in his career beyond the Bianconeri.

They signed De Ligt from Ajax for €85.5m in the summer of 2019 and his contract runs to June 2024.

Juventus sacrifice De Ligt for Vlahovic, Pogba and Romagnoli?

According to Catalan paper Sport, Raiola negotiated a special agreement with Barcelona when he was completing the original transfer to Juventus.

That is a letter confirming Barcelona can activate a release clause in his contract worth €75m, whereas the clause would be €120m for any other club wishing to buy him out of his deal early.

Chelsea would be the current favourites to snap up De Ligt, especially as they are set to lose Antonio Rudiger as a free agent this summer and need reinforcements in defence.

They face competition from Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.

  1. IF its true, then not even worth debating.
Cant be bothered with the constant speculation.
Either he explicitly commits to us or see you later.
Would gladly swap for Vlahovic and any others.

  2. That’s a crazy clause. Not even close to market value.

Imagine Juve losing 10.5m for a player that would have appreciated in value the last 2 years.

All I could do is SMH.

  3. Although I’m not a juve fan , but if this is true, Juventus should let him go to Barcelona, invest the money into a younger striker like vlohovic and get rudiger from Chelsea on free to replace him.

  4. To mikkel: are you serious? Dybala, what you see in that old man what giod do you see in him, where, when, how? Not understand, do you like that old mans youn looking face or what you like how he play football or something else???

  5. Do you really think Piemonte Calcio management agreed to sell him for less, following 2 years of defender schooling in Serie A?

That would be some sort of Trojan hourse level stuff.
