The Slovenian fantasista hit the headlines with some well-taken goals this season and confessed the situation in Sicily is unstable.

“Since I arrived, we only had consistency in the first year. After that we changed Coach more or less every three months,” he told Tuttosport newspaper.

“Clearly everyone brings their own ideas and it’s not easy to start again each time. I like the way Gian Piero Gasperini approaches football with the ball to feet and he wants me to play in my position. I am not afraid and the fans shouldn’t be afraid either.

“I don’t live for the goal, but I don’t set myself limits either. It would be nice to get double figures, but I’d be happy just to score one more than my personal best of eight goals in my debut Serie A season. It’d be even better if I could help save Palermo from relegation.”

Ilicic has been linked with several big clubs, including Milan, Arsenal and Liverpool.

“I have absolutely no intention of leaving Italy. I am very happy here, I’m very close to home and I love Serie A. It is a very difficult tournament full of great players.

“My future is at Palermo. I have a contract until 2016 and would like to become a symbol for this club.”
