However, the clause penalising Paris Saint-Germain if they sold Icardi back to a Serie A side is still very much part of the agreement.
It states that if PSG sell Icardi to another Italian club, then they must pay Inter an extra €15m as a penalty.
Juventus and Napoli have never disguised their interest in the 27-year-old Argentina international, so this clause was added in to prevent PSG immediately sending him back to one of Inter’s rivals.
There is a suggestion from calciomercato.it that the clause is only valid for one year, so in theory Icardi could remain in Paris until returning to Serie A in 2021-22.
In any case, Icardi’s sale would still represent a huge profit for Inter, of €51m plus potential bonuses.
