More details are starting to emerge on the deal taking Mauro Icardi to PSG, including the extra €15m for Inter if he is sold back to an Italian club.

The Parisians paid €13m for the season-long loan, during which he scored 20 goals in 31 competitive games.

There was an option to buy for €70m, but multiple sources report that was negotiated down to €50-53m plus €7-8m in easy to achieve bonuses.

However, the clause penalising Paris Saint-Germain if they sold Icardi back to a Serie A side is still very much part of the agreement.

It states that if PSG sell Icardi to another Italian club, then they must pay Inter an extra €15m as a penalty.

Juventus and Napoli have never disguised their interest in the 27-year-old Argentina international, so this clause was added in to prevent PSG immediately sending him back to one of Inter’s rivals.

There is a suggestion from calciomercato.it that the clause is only valid for one year, so in theory Icardi could remain in Paris until returning to Serie A in 2021-22.

In any case, Icardi’s sale would still represent a huge profit for Inter, of €51m plus potential bonuses.
