After a difficult run of results, some Inter fans had made their displeasure clear, with Mazzarri being subjected to boos and whistles.

However, his young striker is adamant that such actions are not the behaviour of true fans.

“We don’t feel the criticism,” Icardi has insisted to the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“We go out on to the pitch to win, and we have to continue like this.

“Those who whistle do not love Inter. But there are also those who support us for 90 minutes, those are the real fans.”

The Argentinean spent two years with Sampdoria in first moving to Serie A, but there is no sentimental feeling.

“Does it feel better to score against Sampdoria? No, it’s the same as scoring against other teams, although they launched my career.

“It was important for the team, and we continue on the road we started against Cesena.

“We have a game every two days, and we have to work very hard.”
