Inter striker Mauro Icardi could be given an Argentina reprieve after Manuel Lanzini pulled out of their World Cup squad with damaged knee ligaments.
Argentina tweeted on Friday morning that Lanzini ruptured the ACL in his right knee, ruling him out of the Russian showpiece.
The onus is now on who will replace the West Ham United midfielder, and Icardi was one of the players in the Albiceleste’s provisional list, as well as being one of the biggest names overlooked by Jorge Sampaoli.
