Inter captain Mauro Icardi says he would have been called-up by Argentina were it not for his recent injury problems.
The striker was left out by Jorge Sampaoli for this month’s friendlies, with Juventus’ Gonzalo Higuain given a recall.
“I spoke with Sampaoli,” Icardi revealed to Argentina Football.
“I knew that I would be left out of the Argentina squad. I was injured for four games and that’s the only reason why others were chosen.”
