Romelu Lukaku and Zlatan Ibrahimovic clashed during Inter’s 2-1 win over Milan in the Coppa Italia, but did it all start in Manchester?

The Nerazzurri turned the game around after Ibrahimovic’s sending off in the 58th minute. The Swede had given the Rossoneri the lead after 31 minutes, but when Milan went down to 10 men in the closing stages, Lukaku scored from the penalty spot before Christian Eriksen’s free kick completed the comeback.

The Swede had given the Rossoneri the lead after 31 minutes, but when Milan went down to 10 men in the closing stages, Lukaku scored from the penalty spot before Christian Eriksen’s free kick completed the comeback.

The talking point after the match was the clash of heads and Ibrahimovic’s ‘voodoo’ comment.

Zlatan previously spoke about a bet he made with the Inter forward while the pair played together at Manchester United.

He told the Nerazzurri fans to ‘don’t expect good technique’ from the Belgian forward in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport back in 2019.

“I will say this on Romelu: don’t expect good technique from Lukaku. His best strength is sheer power. If only he’d listened to me,” Ibrahimovic told the newspaper.

“At Manchester United, we made a bet: ‘I’ll give you £50 for every decent first touch you make’.

“He replied: ‘What I win if I get them all right?’ I told him nothing, he would simply become a better player.

“For the record, he never accepted the bet! Perhaps he was afraid of losing!?

“Joking aside, Lukaku has this mad hunger to prove himself to the world and I’m sure he will do well at Inter too."
