“We looked back over the game with Atalanta. We made some mistakes, but also a very good second half with the opportunities to equalise,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“We’re continuing to work on our movements and system, so the team is growing, it creates chances and that is already an important development. Now we need to work on finishing the opportunities and turning them into goals in the final third.”

Sassuolo have been active on the transfer market in January, bringing in Khouma Babacar from Sassuolo and above all not selling Matteo Politano to Napoli.

“I was told that this would be the squad going forward and I’m glad to see that was the case. I did ask for some other characteristics and the club gave them to me, so now we’ll work and evaluate when to introduce the new arrivals.

“Cristiano Dell’Orco had a slight muscular problem, but other than that, everyone is available. Obviously, it’ll take a little while with Babacar to get an idea of his fitness levels and tactical introduction, but he arrived with great enthusiasm and we’re confident he can settle very quickly.

“I did breathe a sigh of relief at the transfer deadline when Politano remained. I will admit, I celebrated.”

On Sunday afternoon, the Neroverdi take on Scudetto holders Juventus in Turin.

“Juventus are a side with remarkable records, who know each other well and can adapt to any situation, certainly one of the best teams in Europe.

“They combine great technique and physicality, not to mention immense experience. We need an excellent performance, regardless of systems and tactics, as we must play our game and hold the ball for as long as possible.

“I consider them Scudetto favourites, because when everyone in the squad is available, they’ll have no problems changing tactics while keeping the quality level high. This ability to change mid-game is what I really envy Juventus.

“The statistics tell us we create scoring opportunities, but don’t convert many of them. In my time here, we’ve already missed two penalties and with better finishing we would’ve brought home more points.”
