Beppe Iachini inevitably called for goal line technology after Palermo were denied a victory at Sampdoria.

“These incidents happen in football and it’s a pity, because with a little more luck we could’ve achieved more,” Coach Iachini told Mediaset Premium.

The game ended 1-1, but Michel Morganella’s strike had clearly crossed the line and was not awarded.

“These incidents happen in football and it’s a pity, because with a little more luck we could’ve achieved more,” Coach Iachini told Mediaset Premium.

“I don’t think this type of incident is simple for the officials, as the ball is going so fast, so technology is the only real solution. Unfortunately it went against us this time.”

Iachini even paraphrased ex-Sampdoria Coach Vujadin Boskov about the ‘phantom goal’ incident.

“Goal is when referee whistles,” he smiled.

“I am more interested in the fact my team played very good football and showed great character in a difficult fixture.

“We always go out there with organisation and a strong mentality. We hit the woodwork again today for the 10th time this season, so luck really isn’t on our side and we could’ve had more points.

“It’s important that this Palermo has young players with the right spirit and we always go out there looking to win.”
