Nedo Sonetti says it is a miracle and perhaps a sign of a maturing Maurizio Zamparini that he has not yet sacked Beppe Iachini at Palermo.

The President is known for his lack of patience with those on the bench and expectation since the opening rounds of this season has been that Iachini is on his way out.

However, in spite of defeat to Empoli drawing his ire and forcing the squad into a training retreat this week, Zamp is standing firm with his Coach, much to one of his former victim’s relief.

“It’s a miracle!” Sonetti, who worked under Zamparini during the 2002-03 season, has told Tuttomercatoweb.

“I hope that over the years he has matured and that he has understood this – having changed the Coach one after the other – it is a positive thing.

“I am happy for Iachini – it is true that he has had some setbacks, but it is not worth his sacking.

“Last year Palermo won a marvellous championship [Serie B] and he deserves confirmation.

“And still no other sackings in Serie A? We hope the Presidents have matured, one of the main problems has been them.

“Hopefully they have matured, but just look at what has happened with the Tavecchio case…”
