“There's no cheap trick here, only hard work on the pitch supported by my experience,” Iachini told Radio Rai after 10 points from four rounds.
“I must say well done to the lads, they have shown great flexibility. Our position in the standings was very precarious, and we managed to turn that around. But I am still not satisfied, because I want to see a certain level of football from my team, and today we made a lot of mistakes after the goal.
“We have a lot of quality in the midfield and we manage a lot of possession, but sometimes we need greater speed, and also greater skill, because we have what it takes for it. In fact that's exactly what we did in the second half.
“These three points were ours for the taking. We believed in our game to the very end, which is our defining characteristic now. We fully earned this victory.”
Empoli now have an exceptionally solid record, having won 10 points in only four games since Iachini replaced Aurelio Andreazzoli.
“One always hopes to see results right away, and this season the lads delivered, but we can still develop, just look at how many youngsters we have.
“This may be the youngest midfield in Serie A, and that's where our margin for improvement lies. We'll work on it. We're happy about these 10 points but we still haven't achieved anything concrete.”
