Beppe Iachini insists he “couldn’t have done more” at Sassuolo, after his sacking earlier today.
The Coach was officially relieved of his duties this afternoon, having kept the Neroverdi in Serie A.
“It’s a day that often happens in football,” Iachini shrugged, speaking to RMC Sport.
“We met with the club and the prerequisites weren’t there for us to continue together. I was very happy here, I have to thank everyone from the club to the team.

“We met with the club and the prerequisites weren’t there for us to continue together. I was very happy here, I have to thank everyone from the club to the team.
“We had a great comeback in the league, we started from third-last place and went to 11th, playing youngsters and posting a points average which would’ve been worth Europe in the second half of the season.
“There’s great satisfaction for me, unfortunately this is how it went. The important thing is to leave on the best terms, now we look to the future for other opportunities.
“I'm a professional, I think about working and achieving objectives. In that sense I’m happy with the work done, now we’ll see what happens in the future.
“In leaving Sassuolo I’m leaving an environment which gave me so much, I’m happy with this adventure that ended with a great sporting result.
“When I came in we were in third-last place and in a very complicated situation, we had a good comeback and finished 10 points above some teams that started above us.
“If people expected something else at the beginning of the season then they should talk to someone else.
“Frankly I – along with my staff – couldn’t have done more. In five months I did what I had to do, giving the team confidence and taking them up the table.”
