Inter's new signing Jeison Murillo compares himself to Ivan Cordoba and says he's working to be 'the strongest defender'.

The 23-year-old has some very big shoes to fill if he is to rekindle memories of the powerful Colombian defender, but he does not mind discussing similarities.

“I think he's a great man, not only for my country but for Inter too,” he told Inter Channel.

“I compare myself to him in terms of our characteristics as a player, in terms of our playing styles, and of course for our position on the pitch.

“But I hope to make my own way within the club and to be able to give my best for the good of the team.”

Murillo also discussed his relationship with his new Coach Roberto Mancini and the environment that he encountered at Inter.

“The Coach knows how to prepare you physically, and he does a lot of work on the tactical side.

“I knew that things were going to be like this in Italy and he helped me enormously in my development.

“If he'll give me the chance to play, I'll do everything I can to repay his trust.

“Inter are a great team and here you must always think about winning.

“We're always aiming for the top spots and this energy is contagious.

“Besides, I'm a guy who never stays still and I'm used to asking more and more from myself.

“I work so that someday I can become the strongest defender.”
