Elseid Hysaj is in the Champions League squad, but his agent admits he “tried to the last second to secure a transfer away from Napoli.”

The full-back had been seemingly on the way out since the start of the summer, but talks with Valencia and Atletico Madrid never reached a positive conclusion.

“My objective was to take him away and I tried to the last second of the market to secure a transfer away from Napoli,” agent Mario Giuffredi told Tuttomercatoweb.

“My objective was to take him away and I tried to the last second of the market to secure a transfer away from Napoli,” agent Mario Giuffredi told Tuttomercatoweb.

“Unfortunately, for various reasons, the right conditions never materialised. Some opportunities arose, but they didn’t reach a conclusion.

“Leaving him at Napoli was certainly not my intention, as I brought in Giovanni Di Lorenzo also to favour Hysaj’s sale, as I would never have left two of my players in the same team for the same position.

“Now we start from scratch. He has a contract until June 2021, he will respect it and be at the disposal of the Coach.”
