Napoli will visit Udinese on Thursday night, but the Partenopei can win the title on Wednesday if Lazio fail to beat Sassuolo at the Stadio Olimpico.

The Biancocelesti host Sassuolo in Rome on Wednesday at 20:00 GMT+1.

Maurizio Sarri’s men must win to keep Napoli waiting for their third Scudetto in history. If Lazio lose or draw, the Partenopei will become Serie A champions before playing at the Dacia Arena on Thursday.

Lazio have lost two consecutive Serie A games for the first time since January. The last time they faced three defeats in a row in the league was in July 2020 under Simone Inzaghi.

Sarri’s men have also conceded four goals in the last two matches, as many as in the previous 10.

The Biancocelesti have another key game on Saturday when they’ll face Milan at San Siro. Therefore, their star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic could rest against Sassuolo with Matias Vecino starting.

Napoli won their last Serie A title in 1989-90. Players will travel to Udine on Wednesday, but won’t return to Naples straight after the game on Thursday. If they win the title, they’ll be back in town on Friday afternoon, as President Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed.

If Lazio beat Sassuolo on Wednesday, a draw against Udinese the following day will be enough for Napoli to become Serie A champions for the first time in 33 years.
