According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Milan don’t want to spend more than €20m to sign Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek, but the Blues aim for a higher fee.

The English midfielder has emerged as Milan’s primary target in the middle of the park for 2023-24 and talks with Chelsea are ongoing, Il Corriere dello Sport confirms.

As reported by Antonio Vitiello in Thursday’s printed edition of the newspaper, the Rossoneri don’t want to spend more than €20m to sign the 27-year-old whose contract at Stamford Bridge expires in June 2024.

However, the Blues have set a higher price tag on the central midfielder so negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing.

The report highlights that Milan and Chelsea are on good terms having finalised several deals over the last few years. Fikayo Tomori and Olivier Giroud moved to San Siro in 2021 and 2022 respectively and Tiemoue Bakayoko has returned to Italy on a two-year deal which ends in June. The Frenchman will return to Chelsea at the end of the season.

Milan were also interested in Hakim Ziyech, but the Morocco international has eventually remained in London.

  1. Not sure I get the logic in this. We are told Milan can’t afford Brahim for 20 million and are trying to get him for less yet, we can spend 20 million on a player who is older and not as good. Surely Ziyech would be a better target if we’re looking at Chelsea players.
