José Mourinho wants a new director who can help him in the daily management at Roma, which could bring Francesco Totti back to the club, reports in Italy claim.

Talks over Mourinho’s future have overshadowed the Giallorossi’s defeat in the Europa League Final on Wednesday.

During his post-match press conference in Budapest, Mou didn’t only criticise referee Anthony Taylor but also complained about the many responsibilities he has in the capital.

Sky Sport Italia immediately highlighted that the Special One wants the club to hire a new director for next season.

Mou is on good terms with Tiago Pinto but his compatriot seems unable to accomplish the tasks the coach wants, which are to connect the team and the club, help him with the daily management at Trigoria and relationship with the media.

According to Calciomercato.com, club legends Zbigniew Boniek and Francesco Totti are two potential candidates for the role. Sky Sport Italia’s Angelo Mangiante confirmed it on Saturday, adding that Zvonimir Boban is also among Roma’s options.

Calciomercato also claims Pinto could even leave Roma at the end of the season and be replaced by Monza director Francois Modesto.

Aside from a new director, Mourinho has demanded more investments to build a competitive team in Serie A and Europe for 2023-24. The Special One’s contract in the capital expires in June 2024.
