Davide Frattesi was all smiles when speaking after the full-time whistle of Inter’s 2-1 win over Udinese, calling his late winner ‘wonderful’.

The Italian midfielder came on in the 68th minute of the match, replacing Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and he was the hero in the 94th minute, when he smashed home the rebound after Lautaro Martinez’s shot ricocheted off the post, securing a last-minute victory for the league leaders.

Frattesi has struggled for regular playing time with Inter this season but has proven able to make an impact when needed. He already scored a late winner this season, netting the decisive goal against Hellas Verona earlier in the campaign.

Frattesi reaction to winner

Speaking to Sky Sports Italia via FcInterNews after the full-time whistle, Frattesi was first asked if the strong celebration was in reference to the Scudetto.

“No, simple euphoria for the win. We’ll carry on like this and go get it.”

He touched on how it felt to net another late winner.

“It was wonderful to do it at San Siro, but also here with so many Inter fans, it was nice.”

The Italian midfielder spoke about what it means to the team to overturn results like this.

“Yes, at half-time against Roma we already said to ourselves that we would have our chances and so it happened. You can’t always be 100%, the important thing is to win even these dirty games.”

Finally, Frattesi discussed what this late winner means to him personally.

“Us who play less are still important. We always work hard during the week, we are a good squad. It’s a great satisfaction for me, credit to us and also to the coach. Even those who play little are always considered.”
