Jose Holebas sees a Roma side hungry to win the Scudetto, as he outlines his own determination despite his age.
The 30-year-old German-born Greece international followed Kostas Manolas from Olympiacos to the Stadio Olimpico this summer and today has been presented to the media.
“Hello and thank you everyone, I’m very happy to be here,” Holebas began, following an introduction from CEO Italo Zanzi.
“I had other offers, but I decided on Roma because they are a great club at a European level.

“Hello and thank you everyone, I’m very happy to be here,” Holebas began, following an introduction from CEO Italo Zanzi.
“I had other offers, but I decided on Roma because they are a great club at a European level.
“Was I expecting this move? I had discussions, it was a difficult situation because I was at the World Cup, but I am happy to be here because this is a great club.
“My preferred position? Certainly I will do my best. I am a left-back, playing in an attacking manner. I can also play at centre-back, but the Coach will decide.”
Holebas was asked about his unusual start to life in the game, which included a two-year break away from the game after his girlfriend became pregnant.
“At 18 I stopped playing for personal reasons, I had to devote myself to other situations, a daughter. I saw in my teammates how to be successful and I wanted a ball between my feet.
“Step by step I started again from the bottom – it took hard work but I did it.
“Everyone knows that I started late, I was already almost 21. I am 30 now, but I am still hungry for success.”
And it is a hunger he also sees in his new teammates.
“I think we all want to win the Scudetto. I have spent a couple of days with the team, I have trained and I believe that you want to succeed, you train and you believe that you can achieve what you desire.”
