PSV Eindhoven midfielder Oscar Hiljemark is “truly excited by the chance to play in Serie A with Palermo.”

He recently won the Under-21 European Championship with Sweden and is on the verge of completing the transfer.

“I am truly happy. I’m about to get on a flight to Holland and meet with PSV Eindhoven, then I’ll be in Italy on Sunday or Monday,” he told Tuttomercatoweb.

“At the moment there is nothing official, but we are close and over the weekend the negotiations will continue.

“I heard Palermo is a beautiful city. I’m truly excited by the chance to play in Serie A and hope that soon it will all be finalised.

“I think Serie A is still one of the best Leagues in the world and I’m so happy to have this chance to play in it.”

Hiljemark will be reunited with Sweden Under-21 international Robin Quaison in the Rosanero jersey.

“Robin told me Palermo is a good club and that Italian football is tough, but I am ready and can’t wait for my first experience of it.”
