Arsenal legend Thierry Henry believes Inter star Romelu Lukaku wants to stay at the Stadio Meazza and reveals he had warned the Belgium international about his transfer to Chelsea.

Big Rom scored the winner in Inter’s victory over Porto on Wednesday in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 at San Siro.

It was his fourth goal in 14 appearances across all competitions this season. Lukaku returned to Inter on loan from Chelsea last summer after a disappointing spell under Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge.

Henry, who was Roberto Martinez’s assistant at Belgium at the World Cup, discussed the future of the Chelsea loanee, confirming that he doesn’t want to return to England at the end of the season.

“We had a discussion when he went to Chelsea. I told him he’s going to find it difficult to play there because of the way Tuchel liked to play,” Henry told BT Sports.

“Rom likes to stay where he is. Feed him, play him in early and he’ll try to bully you. He was a different type of man to what Tuchel wanted. Is he going to fit what Potter’s trying to do? And what does he want to do? I don’t think he wants to go back. He wants to stay at Inter.”

Lukaku had scored 64 goals in 95 matches at Inter under Antonio Conte during his two-year stay at the club ahead of a €115m transfer to Chelsea in 2021.
