Hategan has not brought much luck to Italian sides this season, overseeing Inter’s 2-0 loss at Barcelona, Juventus 1-2 Manchester United and Inter again losing 1-0 at home to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Having said that, the 38-year-old has officiated three Napoli games and they remain unbeaten with two wins and a 0-0 draw against Dynamo Kiev.

His only previous match with Arsenal was their 2-1 Champions League defeat away to Dinamo Zagreb in September 2015, sending off Olivier Giroud for two bookable offences before half-time.
