Martin Petras, a member of Marek Hamsik’s entourage, discussed the possibility of the Slovakian returning to Napoli in the near future.

The 35-year-old midfielder is currently plying his trade in Turkey with Trabzonspor, a club he joined last year after a brief spell with Swedish outfit IFK Göteborg. Hamsik spent almost 12 years with Napoli from 2007 to 2019, becoming their record all-time appearance holder with 520. He has also scored the third most goals in the club’s history, ahead of Diego Maradona.

Speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, Petras discussed the possibility of seeing Hamsik return to Napoli in the coming years.

“There is often talk of Hamsik returning to Napoli as a director. Trabzonspor have offered him a three-year renewal, in Turkey they would like to keep him.

“He is calmly considering the future, and obviously a return to the Azzurri would not displease him. Slovakia coach Calzona would like to give him a role in the national team. We will know more in the coming weeks.”

The 35-year-old Hamsik has made 15 appearances across all competitions so far this season for Trabzonspor, scoring two goals in that time.

The Slovakian midfielder was a part of the Napoli sides that won two Coppa Italia and one Supercoppa Italiana, and he’ll be keeping a close eye on this season’s title race.
