Napoli made the shock announcement on Wednesday evening that Hamsik’s sale to Dalian had been ‘suspended’.

However, Sky Sport Italia is one of several sources that report the midfielder was absent from Castel Volturno the following morning, despite being expected.

Club lawyer Mattia Grassani then told Tuttosport: “The terms, conditions and guarantees [of Hamsik’s transfer] haven’t been respected but rather amended.”

The amendment relates to Dalian preferring to loan the Slovak with obligation to buy as opposed to purchashing him outright.

Nonetheless, the deal is not completely off as the Chinese club have until February 28 to reach an agreement with the Partenopei.
