The 24-year-old is one of the side’s most wanted players on the transfer market, but he insists he’s happy at the San Paolo.

“I love this shirt and I’ve always said that,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “I have signed a five-year contract here and I’m happy. I believe in this project.”

Hamsik was targeted by Milan last summer, but no deal was struck. In March, he is thought to have agreed a new agreement until June 2016.

The Slovakian has scored seven goals in 31 League games this term as his side try to again qualify for the Champions League.

“There has been a bit of a crisis,” he said of his side’s current slump in results. “We’ve felt the impact of the three consecutive losses, but we now have to pick ourselves up.

“We’ll fight for third place – there are still a lot of points on offer and we’ll give it our best.”
