Francesco Guidolin criticised the Udinese fans for jeering during their 1-0 win over Genoa. “The passion around me is ending.”

The Friulani squeezed past Genoa this evening thanks to an Emanuele Calaiò own goal from Antonio Di Natale’s free kick.

“I was pleased to bring home a difficult and deserved victory, because we came up against a Genoa side that closed everything down,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“Despite the fact we didn’t create that many chances, I was satisfied with the approach, the determination and the overall performance.”

A section of the Stadio Friuli jeered when Maicosuel was substituted and Guidolin hit out at the fans.

“It’s better that the fans take it out on me. Perhaps some think we can win the Scudetto, but we’ve already performed miracles here.

“Something has changed in the atmosphere around the club. I made my decisions, but it looks as if the passion around me is ending, even though my passion for Udinese has only strengthened.

“I chose to rest Luis Muriel because even for a young player it’s tough to have two games in three days. These are the decisions a Coach makes, albeit knowing the fans will complain.”
