Swansea City boss Francesco Guidolin says becoming Italy CT ‘would be an honour for me’.

Antonio Conte will step down from the position after Euro 2016 and the former Udinese Coach is one of the names that has been linked with taking over.

“I’ve heard nothing officially, just some rumours,” Guidolin said to Radio 1 Rai.

“Of course, if they asked me if I’d like to coach the national team I would answer that obviously I would.

“Of course, if they asked me if I’d like to coach the national team I would answer that obviously I would.

“It would be an honour for me, but I’d also like to continue here.

“[Alberto] Paloschi is integrating well, I knew him and what he could give me. I’ve dreamed of the English league since I was a child. I had this chance and I’m happy to have made this choice.

“There is pressure because it’s the most rich and important league in the world and the Press are cutting, but the atmosphere that you get at the stadium is different from in Italy. It’s calmer.

“The relationship with the referees is different here as well compared to in our country.

“In Italy we need to build friendly stadiums and work to improve the culture. But from the technical and tactical point of view, we’re still credible.

“Next year the English league will be even richer. I have a contract until June, since I’ve been here the standings have improved a lot and we’ve made important steps even if we’re not safe yet.

“Here at Swansea there’s a President who also works as director general and sporting director, and I’m the Coach.”
