Pep Guardiola is respectful of the threat that Milan will pose his Barcelona side in the Champions League.

The Spanish giants will start the last eight clash between the two teams as favourites, but the former Brescia player insists the tie hasn’t been won yet.

“The draw has put us against one of the greatest teams in history, we will need everyone's contribution to go through,” he noted on Friday.

The Spanish giants will start the last eight clash between the two teams as favourites, but the former Brescia player insists the tie hasn’t been won yet.

“The draw has put us against one of the greatest teams in history, we will need everyone's contribution to go through,” he noted on Friday.

“We are the reigning champions of Europe and to defend our title we must beat the best teams – and Milan are among them.

“They have fantastic players and they are at the top of the table in the Italian championship. Their footballers are of the highest level.

“They create chances easily and have a good defence.

“However, I always prefer to play against teams whom we have already met in the past, as we know them well.

“To win the Champions League you have to beat the best. And Milan are one of the best.”

Barcelona drew 2-2 with Milan at home in the group stages this season, while they won 3-2 at the Meazza.

The draw for the semi-finals also took place today which leaves open the possibility of a Barcelona-Real Madrid finale.

“I’m not thinking about a hypothetical semi-final or final,” Guardiola continued. “I’m only thinking of Milan and of a quarter-final that will be very hard.”

Milan will entertain Barca on March 28 and the return has been set for April 3.
