Only two weeks after his arrival in France, Fabio Grosso is forced to contend with a long list of issues at Olympique Lyon, leaving him at the centre of a raging storm in Ligue 1.

The French side, who have won seven Ligue 1 titles in the past, currently sit rock bottom of the league table after seven matches, picking up just two points from draws against Nice and Le Havre.

Laurent Blanc was dismissed last month and Lyon brought in Grosso to replace him, believing the 2006 World Cup winner could help rectify the situation following his impressive work at Frosinone.

Calciomercato.com highlights how things have not started well for Grosso, whose Lyon have lost to Brest and Stade Reims in his first two matches in charge.

The club are also at risk of being penalised by FIFA. Several Ligue 1 clubs complained after the arrival of Ernest Nuamah at the end of August. The 19-year-old was bought by Molenbeek – a club owned by Lyon owner John Textor – from Nordsjaelland for €25m before heading to France a day later.

The transfer allegedly helped Lyon avoid the transfer market limits imposed by DNCG (National Directorate of Management Control).

There is now risk of the club being suspended from the coming January transfer window, which would exacerbate the ongoing issues at Lyon further, putting greater pressure on Grosso.
