FIGC President Gabriele Gravina says "the most important aspect, beyond the result, is to generate enthusiasm" for Italy under Roberto Mancini.

Gravina was speaking at an event for the Italian press agency on a number of issues in the Italian game, and commented on the Euro 2020 qualification.

"The most important aspect, beyond the results, is to generate enthusiasm. To tell our Italians that we have the courage, and the fortune, to tell a new story in our history, to bring enthusiasm. This is thanks to the young players who are involved in the first team."

Former Juventus and Sampdoria striker Gianluca Vialli has recently joined the Azzurri set up as chief delegate, and Gravina says it was important to have him involved.

"I believe having Vialli as one of the heads of delegation is a very beautiful message. He is giving a show of strength and hope to many Italians."

Gravina also spoke about the financial aspects of the Federation and clamping down on financial irregularities in all tiers of the game.

"This year we had no clubs that started the season with points deduction. In the last few years we didn't know who would be playing in Serie A or B just before the season was about to start, but that wasn't the case this year.

"The Lega Pro fixture list had already been drawn up by July, too."
