The Friulani had taken the lead against Carlo Ancelotti’s men with a Kevin Lasagna counter-attack, only to be caught by Piotr Zielinski’s snooker shot.

“I am satisfied with the result against an excellent team, but it’s just disappointing that we didn’t take those three or four chances to do even more damage to Napoli,” Gotti told Sky Sport Italia.

“We had to play defensively and focus on the counter-attack, because Napoli are the kind of team who force you to do that. Last week, we were too presumptuous against Lazio and paid for that, but we learned from the experience and used those lessons today.”

Gotti is still only the caretaker manager after Igor Tudor was fired, but Udinese seem in no rush to find a replacement.

“My opinion hasn’t changed, as I do not want the job full-time.”
