Asked if the struggling side need a miracle against Juve, Gotti believes they need to be proactive.

“We all know the strength of Juventus, we know about the difficulties we face and the numbers they’ve recorded in recent years," the caretaker manager said at a press conference.

“To come away with something positive from Turin we will need a mixture of elements. It’s just not enough to hope for some luck, we must take a proactive approach. It must be a cocktail of both. We have to focus on what we can do.”

There has been debate in Italy as to whether Maurizio Sarri can combined Cristiano Ronaldo, Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala in the starting XI, and Gotti says nothing would change should the trio play together.

“The paradox is what from our defensive point of view, little changes. One expects that it can change, but it really doesn’t. What it does change is the type of construction of play that we can make.

“Finding three points or two points and the trequartista changes some nuances on when we can build play from in behind.”

Udinese earned a creditable draw against Napoli last weekend, and Gotti wants a repeat performance.

“This game is a similar one that’s prepared in the same way because, by facing a team of great quality you spend a lot of the game in your own half.

“Physiologically spaces are created behind the opposing defence. Even in the middle of the pitch, Juve are not good at closing spaces.”

Udinese are currently 15th in Serie A, and haven't won since a 3-1 win over Genoa at the start of November.
