Milan have had to do without talented defender Pierre Kalulu in their last two outings, but the Frenchman took a positive step forward in training today.

The 22-year-old suffered a calf injury whilst on international duty with the France Under-21 squad, forcing him to miss the Rossoneri’s win over Napoli and draw with Empoli.

Stefano Pioli and his Milan squad are now hard at work preparing for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie with Napoli, a match they’ll be feeling extra confident about following their recent win over the league leaders.

As noted by Gianluca Di Marzio, Kalulu carried out part of today’s training session at Milanello with his teammates and Pioli, before breaking off to complete his individual work.

Whilst the Frenchman will be unavailable for the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals with Napoli, the hope is that he’ll be able to return for the Serie A clash with Bologna on April 15 or the second leg against the Partenopei.
