“Maxime will 100 per cent stay at Roma,” Frederic Guerra told Centro Suono Sport.

“After this first season away from Lyon he had to settle in every respect, he’d never been away from France. Then little by little he entered.

“Now he’s very happy at Roma, in the last games he showed his qualities more, tactically he needed to settle.

“Italian football is difficult, but he’s more trusted by Eusebio Di Francesco now. I met Maxime three days ago, we spent an evening together and went over his first season in Rome.

“He’s happy to stay at Roma, because of the fans and the way he’s integrated with the group.

“When he came to Roma we talked to Monchi and Di Francesco and we knew he had a top player like [Daniele] De Rossi in front of him.

“We knew he’d have to sweat to find his place, but Maxime never caused controversy, he got his head down and worked in silence and I think Roma appreciated that.

“The relationship with Di Francesco is excellent, even on a human level, a relationship of great respect.

“Maxime knows he is important for the team, he has always worked to be ready.”
