The German striker is on loan from the Viola, and has revived his career in Turkey with 26 goals in the League this season.

“In terms of my future, it’s obvious that I’m taking the possibility of staying at Besiktas into account,” Gomez explained to Bild.

“The negotiations between the two clubs are just beginning, and I don’t know what will happen. Everything will be clearer in a few days.

“Fiorentina and Besiktas have an agreement for my transfer, but my will also counts and I’ve always said I’ll make a final decision at the end of the season.

“I wasn’t too sure about moving to Besiktas, but in the end it was the best thing for me.

“I’ve played in the Champions League final and at the World Cup, but I’ve never experienced the emotion of the last few games in this campaign.

“The warmth of the fans and their passion has been incredible.”
