Cagliari defender Diego Godin has suffered an injury during international duty with Uruguay and is uncertain ahead of the game against Genoa.

Bad news for Leonardo Semplici, as the veteran centre-back seems set to be out against the Grifone.

Godin has suffered a knee injury during the retreat with Uruguay for the World Cup Qualifiers and will miss the third international game this month.

“The Department of Health of the AUF informs that the footballer Diego Godin will not be available for today’s match against Ecuador,” the statement from Uruguay said.

“It’s due to the increase in pain due to chronic tendinopathy of the left patella.”

The 35-year-old has played two times in Serie A so far this term but seems set to miss the upcoming game against Genoa and it’s uncertain when he will recover from the problem.

Cagliari have picked up one point in two games and are still searching for their first win in Serie A 2021-22.
